Week 4: Setting Goals and Plugging Financial Leaks
Setting
goals gives me the energy to move forward. The act of writing my goals
down and crossing them off my list makes a sense of accomplishment.
Goal setting helps me with focus and direction. The
focus to stay determined about the results I anticipate, and the guidance
needed to maintain the course in the direction of my goals.
What I attempt to do with my goal setting is to surround myself with reminders. My reminders include notes to myself, a reward and punishment system, reflection and evaluation.
The use of reminders helps me to maintain my motivation by keeping my goals and progress on alert.
The reward and punishment system I use, help me with staying on track with the motivation to move forward.
Reflection during my goal setting stage helps me to remain optimistic about being realistic and purposeful with my goals. During the reflection process, I can take a clear look at my accomplishments, see areas that I may need improvements or adjustment and recognize my accomplishments. Sometimes it may simply be the wrong narrative I have rehearsed that may draw me away from my goals into a distracted thought process. Reflection helps me to redirect the distraction or false narrative.
Using an evaluation system with goals setting helps me to keep a realistic view of the normal interactions within life. A health set back, a change in lifestyle or some other unforeseen circumstances, can be navigated or integrated within the evaluation process.
Overall, the goal setting systems for me, provides an opportunity to turn large goals into smaller, manageable, and realistic opportunities to complete any task.
I'm truly sorry I missed the wonderful class and guest speaker. I did read Making a spending plan. I'm a visual person so I need to write everything done. Sticky notes, notebooks and reminders on my phone. The SMART plan was awesome. It breaks everything down fro. A-Z. By doing that I feel I can accomplish my financial goals. I put this on my fridge and my bedroom wall so I can look at it daily and not forget what I'm aiming for.
ReplyDeleteWeekly and monthly budget sheets will keep me in tact. It's important for me. I want to be the first child in my family to own their own house or condo. I want to make my parents proud in heaven. I'm going to utilize all the tools given to us by Faye Griffiths-Smith
We missed you in class!!
DeleteI believe it is imperative to have goals (short, medium, long) term goals. The dream map presentation was beneficial in me creating these goals. I have goals I would like to accomplish in a year, five years, and ten years. I believe it is so important to have daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals. Goals are helpful in moving forward in life. The objective is to always move forward; this is the only way I would like to go from now on. I am sick of blocking my blessings and taking back my will, causing chaos and destruction.
ReplyDeleteOverall, my goal is to be the best version of myself today for a better tomorrow. This will result in me accomplishing my goals.
The dream map helped me as well!

DeleteI agree with sarai, being able to write out my dream act helped me identify what is important and to visualize it . to understand that it isn't going to happen overnight but instead to be able to break it down and take the tools from the course to achieve them .

“Budgeting is not just for people who do not have enough money. It is for everyone who wants to ensure that their money is enough.”

ReplyDeleteI love the concept of separating the budgets based on short, medium and longer goals. at first it seem overwhelming to me to think about writing out the financing but now after the class I was able to understand that its more a tracking method to see any changes and where money is going vs where it should be going. one step at a time.
